Service Users are encouraged and supported to access local resources in the community. This includes all public facilities chosen and deemed suitable by the service user and his/her representatives, advocates and family. For example adult education, library, leisure centre and entertainment venues.

Caterham is close to Croydon and Purley and travel training is provided for local transport - buses, trains and trams. When this is not available there are several local taxi firms and the Nightingale transport vehicle that can be used by service users.

A communal room on the ground floor of the premises is available for tenants by arrangement and this facility can be booked for private family parties or other activities. In general it is used for relaxation and has a small pool table, games, music centre and large screen TV. There is easy access to the garden from this room for Summer barbecues and social events. We offer this in a relaxed and non institutional manner - although there is structure to activities and particular autistic strategies used in the way we work with our service users, that structure is discreet and is not predominently the first thing noticed on entering the living environment. Nightingale are engaged in Autism Accreditation with the Autistic Society and several staff are engaged in the Autistic Champions - a Surrey led initiative to improve services for Autistic people.

Supported holidays must be negotiated by arrangement with the Registered Manager and are in addition to normal services.
